Vintage record player damage?
December 24th, 2009 by adminI have a vintage record player downstairs (well my parents do) and I wanted to learn how to scratch and dj and such using it. I know that whatever records I use will get damaged, I’m ok with that
But, will it damage the record player itself by doing this?
Oh ok, so could I temporarily (without extensive knowledge about record players) switch in a non damaging needle? Or would that take a lot of equipment to do?
Yes you could probably do that but those needles are expensive…but it also wears out the belt if its a belt drive and you might need to get a new belt..it might be cheaper to just get a DJ table I bet if you look around you can find one for $100.00 with needle, which is what the cartridge needle is going to cost you alone.

Yeah you could pretty easily damage the needle (reads the music) which is why Djs use special needles
