On a turntable, on the end of the arm, the top bit. What is it called?

December 19th, 2009 by admin

Not the cartridge or stylus. I have those but I’ve lost the actual top bit that connects to the arm. The bit that you hold to move the record arm across.

Does anyone know what this is called?
Also, if you know where I can buy one for a Numark TT-1520 that’d be great.

It’s called a headshell, and you should be able to get one on ebay, or from a good hi fi dealer (who should be able to order one if he doesn’t carry it in stock).

Wow – It’s been a LONG time since I heard any mention of a turntable! I just did a little checking for you – are you talking about the "tonearm"? Look at the bottom of this link under "Arm Systems":

Good luck to you, and thanks for the memories!!!

One of the sites below may have a headshell for your Numark. There are plenty on eBay, too.
