Never heard of a Technics P-520... It's probably worth putting a cartridge on if it's a Technics and it works though.

If the cartridge pins plug straight into the tonearm and there's a set screw on the side, you need a P-mount cartridge.

If wires and connectors are connected to the cartridge pins and the cartridge is held in place by two vertical screws, you need a standard 1/2" mount cartridge.

If it's a P-mount, Audio Technica makes many models in the lower price-range that aren't bad. The stylus shapes get better as the price goes up for cleaner tracking and clearer sound. An Ortofon 310 or 320 might sound a little better if you want to spend that much. 320 might be overkill, depending on the table...

Here's a good place to see some of the Audio Technica P-mounts that are available. Remember all the carts on this page are not P-mounts.

If you need a standard 1/2" mount cartridge, the Audio Technica AT-95E is a great performer for the price.

The Audio Technica AT-120e if you can spend more...

The Shure M97xE is very popular with people who prefer a "warmer" sound with a little less energy at the frequency extremes...

Here's a site that sells cartridges. You might be able to find the right one there.
