Obviously you have …
Obviously you have it mounted now Always unscrew headshell from tonearm first Then mount cartridge to headshell as you are looking down on it The nuts go on top of headshell or can go up against the cartridge. Whatever is more convenient and fits easier Connect wires after it is mounted Loosen screws slightly to align cartridge on headshell properly. It’s easy & fun. Just takes practice. Sure you found out. The 440[the MLA version] from AudioTechnica is supposed to be nice cartridge

One more thing… …
One more thing… ALWAYS mount a cartridge with the headshell removed from the tonearm. Simply turn the knurled nut behind the headshell clockwise (when viewed from the front) to release the headshell from the tonearm.

Oh yeah, I forgot …
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that once your cartridge body is mounted to the headshell, replace the stylus by aligning the protrusion on the stylus to the hole in the cartridge body and then snap into place. You’ll hear a “click” if it’s correctly in place.

4. Do the same …
4. Do the same with the other screw and nut.
I always mount AT cartridges (I have an AT15SS and AT440MLa) with the screw head on the bottom and the nut on top of the headshell. I find this is the best and most secure way to mount these particular cartridges.
Once your cartridge is mounted, follow your turntable’s instructions on how to adjust tracking weight, overhang, anti-skating, etc…
Have fun!

This is quite a …
This is quite a simple task, once you know how.
1. Remove the stylus from the cartridge by holding the cartridge between your thumb and forefinger of one hand, then pull the stylus assembly straight up and out with your other hand.
2 . Attach the lead wires from the headshell to the cartridge body.
3. Holding the cartridge up against the inside of the headshell, push a screw up through the mounting lug and through the top of the headshell, thread a nut and tighten.

Finally, if you can …
Finally, if you can set the height on that tonearm, you will want to adjust that so that it is parallel to the record, while you are playing it.
Are you on AIM or Yahoo IM? I don’t want to remove my good cartridge now that I have it aligned, but I have others that I can use to make a demo – or detailed pictures if you want.

After setting the …
After setting the weight, it is now time to set your anti-skate adjustment if you turntable has one. A *rough* way to adjust this, is to turn the anti-skate knob, so that that number on that dial is the same as the number of grams you have your weight set to. A more precise way of adjusting this, is to use a record that has a band with no grooves in it. You’d basically adjust this so that the needle stays in the middle of this grooveless band.

You will now be …
You will now be able to correctly calibrate the weight of your tonearm. Repeat the steps I mentioned earlier, to make the arm float when the dial on the counterweight indicates 0 grams, and finally set it to 1.4 again. This will be your starting position. Later on, you may find that making it a bit lighter or a bit heavier than 1.4 will sound better – as long as you keep it within the range that is specified in the cartridge manual. The range for the AT440MLa, is 1-1.8 grams.

This requires a bit …
This requires a bit of time and patience, as it is for the most part, trial and error. Again, DO NOT skip this alignment step! Improper cartridge alignment will cause mistracking, which will not only give you a distorted sound, but will also damage your vinyl and wear out your stylus quicker.
