guide to replacing turntable cartridge?
October 21st, 2009 by admincould someone explain or point me to a guide about replacing the cartridge on a tonearm? i’ve only replaced the stylus before and i’m afraid of breaking the lead wires or something!
See link for a guide.
Basically, keep the stylus protection cover in place while working, and don’t use excessive force on anything. The leads and cartridge are actually quite strong … but you are right you can damage them.
If replacing with an exact replacement spacing should all be set. Otherwise you may have to adjust somewhat. But instructions, spacers, etc should come with the new cartridge since the manufacturer can’t be sure this isn’t a first time install.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
