Receiver or Amplifier for Technics Turntable?
December 8th, 2009 by adminI have a Technics SL-D303 fully automatic direct drive turntable. I am without a stereo and want to save money and buy something used but decent. I’m looking to spend up to $150. I have no other interest than playing LP’s with this stereo. Do I need to buy an actual receiver, or can I just buy an amplifier instead? I’ve always used old, beat-up receivers (Sony, Marantz, Onkyo) in the past, so I’m not too familiar with alternative hook-ups. I also know zilch about preamps. Help, please.
There are amps out there but they are harder to find these days. A receiver will work just as well and will be within your budget. Just make sure it has a "phono" input.
This one does:
