How can I raise the volume from a Technics turntable?

December 11th, 2009 by admin

I recently bought a new Technics SL1200 turntable with a Shure M44G stylus to play with my home stereo system. I used the supplied RCA cables to connect it into a 500W Sony receiver. The sound is so dim that I have to crank the volume to the max just to hear the music. The receiver works just fine with the other inputs and only sounds weak with the turntable, regardless of which input its plugged into. Is there any way to increase the volume coming from the turntable?

does your receiver have phono input ?

either way you can purchase phono preamps to help raise the volume.
also check to make sure the stylus is wired correctly

model of your sony receiver would help

Check to make sure that you have plugged everything in correctly that is usually the main problem.

If not make sure that your stylus is not bent or scratched in anyway that can cause loss of sound…

    Phono

Can get it at best buy

Also if this does not help take it to the manufacturer or the place you got it.
