RCA linear tracking turntable with infrared track detection
This 1987 RCA Dimensia MTT230 linear tracking turntable uses an infrared LED and detector on the tonearm to scan the record and find the tracks, allowing it to automatically skip back and forth between the tracks just like a CD player. The track detection works pretty well, even on dirty LPs. Similar models were made [...]

Bob Dylan – “4th Time Around” (Mono)
Dylan released ‘Blonde On Blonde’ on Columbia Records in 1966, and it’s arguably the greatest album he’s ever made. “4th Time Around” is one of my favorite tracks off the LP. This is the original monophonic recording, as was heard on turntables around the world in ‘66.

This video for “Karn Evil 9, 1st Impression Part 2″ by Emerson, Lake and Palmer (from ELP’s 1973 “Brain Salad Surgery” album) was filmed at the coolest place ever! It’s the XL Music City Lab. Rega P5 Record Player Plays Patience by Lloyd Cole
Not a literal reference to a solo card game (but possibly a figurative one) this Lloyd Cole ballad comes from the 1984 album Rattlesnakes. It is one of Lloyd’s most poignant songs. Clever poetry delivered with real emotion – his falsetto and cracking voice suggest that he is in tears over his inability [...]
Birthday Present from Tink (Old Birch Record Player)!
Special thanks to sideshowtink, my wonderful friend who sent me this great record player for my birthday. It can play 78’s 45’s and LP’s but personally I like it best for 45’s, for some reason. The needle seems to sound fine with all the speeds, though it looks like the steel needle that [...]
