looking for info. on silvertone console record player?
November 27th, 2009 by adminI just purchased a silver-tone console stereo/record player. not sure what year it is. but it’s in beautiful shape except the turn table does not spin. any info would be greatly appreciated thanks jim w
Silvertone was the Sears brand for radios, phonographs, and early TV sets. If it’s a floor-mounted console, it could date anywhere from the 1930s to the 1960s. It has very little value among collectors because its bulk makes shipping it impractical. The turntable is driven by a rubber belt, which is a normal wear item. It’s not hard to fix by someone with experience.
If you can take some digital photos of it and e-mail them to me, I can tell you a lot more about it. E-mail: dtv-help [at] comcast.net.
