Hooking up and running a record player through a TV?

February 24th, 2010 by admin

I have a new-ish record player that just has to get plugged into an outlet and a stereo to work. I wanted to hook it up to work through my tv’s speakers, so I plugged it into extra audio ports on the back of the tv. I can’t get it to work though. I tried changing the source through the receiver and still cant get it to work on any of them… any ideas as to what I’m doing wrong?

Are you talking about a turntable that plays vinyl records and is a componet by itself, unattached to other componets except by cables only and your trying to plug this directly into the audio inputs on back of tv? this won’t work you need to plug the turntable into a phono input on rear panel of stereo reciever then take a pair of RCA stereo cables and plug into tape/pb out on rear panel of stereo then plug other end into red and white audio inputs on tv. you should have what you want now.
