Maybe I can trade …
Maybe I can trade my piece-o-crap Sears Silvertone record player to either a GE Automatic or a Magnavox portable record player which is the same one you have. Let’s hope!

I also spoke to a …
I also spoke to a friend from my job that he has a 1960’s Magnavox portable record player, but I’m not sure if it’s an “All-Transistor” or not. It has the same Micromatic record changer in your ‘62 Magnavox. He also has it up in the attic, and it is working good. I hope he is going it give it to me by either Monday or not sure.

Nice! How did you determine its age? I wonder about mine- I know it’s from the 60s but not sure what year exactly.

I’m afraid you are …
I’m afraid you are mistaken on that. They do have those and everything else, I just checked. In fact they even have the rare electrolytic capacitor for my Dyna MK 111 amp. They just got it in a month ago. No one made one over 450 volts since the 60’s, and they now stock it in 600 volts. It was custom made for Dyna in the 60’s and that was it until last month Better try it again. This is Just Radios in Canada.

Oh yeah! I’ve been on those sites b4. They don’t carry a 200uf and 300uf caps like everyone else. Those are the ones I went a slightly higher in value in my Mag.

Antique electronic …
Antique electronic supply, and Just Radios. Just radios is in Canada and does have a 15.00 minimum order, Antique Electronic supply is in the US, and I don’t think they have that high of a minimum order.

I was curious about …
I was curious about the bass before and after, as I had a similar problem using a substitute value cap, and had to change it back to the correct value to restore the sound . I doubt if the cartridge has anything to do with it. I do have a couple of on line vintage radio suppliers I can recommend for buying caps, and their prices aren’t too bad.

I don’t think so! …
I don’t think so! The old pickup was intermitting so it was kinda hard to tell. I wonder if pickup is too bassy? Also, there were 4 caps I had to use a slightly higher value because I coundn’t find the exact value I need so I ended up using them instead. I wonder if that may be causing it too.

I just curious, did it have excessive bass before you recapped it.

Yeah! I remember a video when you’ve played “Let’s Live For Today” from that album. Maybe it was played on a late ’60s Panasonic.

About two years ago …
About two years ago on your old channel “damusician”, you did a vid on the other ‘62 Maggie where you played Madonna’s “Into the Groove” that WMG didn’t want it. Guess what, I did a vid of the same song “Into the Groove” on my ‘75 GE Wildcat on Vimeo. This is way better than your other ‘62 Maggie tube record player which was on your old channel “damusician”.

Nice record player, …
Nice record player, and nice restoration work. I saw your other ‘62 Maggie way back two years ago on your old channel “damusician”, it was a tube one, but this one has transistors instead of tubes. This was one of the Maggies that had a solid state unit, just like my GE Wildcat does with just transistors on it.

WHOOO! Nice restoration job!
Sounds excellent too! I’m sure the camera doesn’t do it justice.

You got that …
You got that Magnavox repaired fast, and it works great. Do you get your replacement caps locally, or do you order them through the internet. My last new caps order came from Canada, they were much cheaper than the local electronics store. I recently found another vintage electronics parts on line store in Arizona.
