What is the best record or record set for DJ with a turntable starting out?
February 5th, 2010 by adminI have a friend that I want to help out but I don’t know anything about it!
Do you mean what songs should he/she start out with?
It depends what kind of music they want to deejay. The easiest music to learn beat-matching on is minimal house. Really, any house. It’s much easier to line up the beats when they’re just on each beat, so I’d invest in 3-4 house records to practice. Once you’ve mastered those, you can try harder genres like hip hop or drum n bass.
(This is not a qualitative judgment on these musical styles, house is simply easier to start out on.)
