how to remove the record plate on a kenwood turntable?
March 11th, 2010 by admina kenwood kz 2000
I need to replace the belt but i can’t get to it
i did before i just can’t remember and this is easier than guess and check
I’m usually a stickler for terminology, but I just can’t remember the name of the clip that holds the platter on the spindle. It’s kind of a ‘C’-clip with two little holes to pry it apart and remove it from the groove in the spindle. I call it a Jesus clip because it’s so tempting to just use needle-nose pliers to remove it, but then it goes flying somewhere that it can’t be found, and the normal reaction is to shout "Jesus!!!"
In fact it IS a C-ring, because you need C-ring pliers to remove it without losing it. Anyway, then you can lift the platter and access the belt that’s attached to the drive motor.

Percival is right. But I’ve heard that it’s called the "Oh, s**t." clip because that’s what is said when it goes flying.
