What are the white bugs in my record player?
November 20th, 2009 by adminI a record player at a yard sale. It didn’t work too well. I took a panel off the bottom and I saw about 6 tiny white bugs crawling around on the transformer or what ever it is. They were about 1/16 inch long. I think they look like lice. I read something about book lice. Is there any possibility that head or body lice would be living in the record player?
You have Beatles. The best solution is an organic one. Get a Yoko. They prey on Beatles and should clear your problem right up.

I don’t know what they were, but I know head, and body lice live off human blood, so that wouldn’t be it.

They are Beatles, of course.

There is virtually no chance that head or body lice would be living in a record player. They die quite quickly when no longer on their host, and rarely leave unless they have another one to attach to soon.
Although they are called "lice", psocids, or book lice, are not closely related to the lice we consider parasitic pests. In this case, louse is just a generic name like "bug" that gets applied to anything small and squicky looking.
We had considerable public alarm a few years ago when we had a city-wide infestation of a type of insect known as plant lice. We had hundreds of people phoning us in a panic, worried that the plant lice were going to infest their children. However, they had nothing to fear unless their children were actually Manchurian ash or black ash trees.
Depending on how tiny they were, my first suspect for possible critters that might be in there would be pharaoh ants.
These aren’t dangerous to people, but can be really annoying to have in your house.
