Okay guys,
I got one of these. It hooks up via antanna, and plays through a low am station, we had it when I was a child in a 64 Ford T-Bird convertable. I have been holding onto it for years, waiting to get the car we used to have. Buy the way, never scrached a single record!

You can find them …
You can find them on Ebay. You would have to check the back of your radio to see if it has a place to plug in the player.

Sorry for all the questions but i think this is soo cool. How much will one of these cost and Will it work in a 1962 ford fairlane?

No problem. Go to …
No problem. Go to 0:37 and you’ll see the record. It is 7 inches wide and is played at 45 revolutions per minute. It has one song on each side. An album is like what we buy on CD now, holding a dozen songs perhaps…the albums were 12 in. wide and played at 33 rpm. In earlier years there were the 10 in. that played at 78 rpm, one song on each side. Common usage referring to them today is 78s, 45s, and albums.

After thinking about it, I think RCA gave up on it around 62 or 63 and either licensed it or sold it and ARC was the new owner.

Keep in mind, this …
Keep in mind, this was the first time we could go mobile with our music….no tape til late 60s, so it was really something. I guess they didn’t reach mass appeal because they weren’t advertised enough. Plus, the masses didn’t add stuff to their cars like we did later. FWI…there was a 12v power wire and a wire that connected into the antenna socket on the radio. Then the antenna lead plugged into that. Simple.

Go to 1:23 to see the auto changing….cool.
Chrysler Corp offered these as optional equipment from 57 to somewhere around 61. Didn’t really catch on. In the early 60s, they were available retail as ARC players. Same unit. I still have the brochure paperwork. My nephew trashed the player. I had mine in my 63 Corvair convertible. Good music ALL the time. They weren’t expensive. Mine skipped on bad railroad crossings. If you wanted to hear more than 13 or so records, you had to find a way to store

Maybe I should get back into restoring these units again! Thanks for posting this video, people need to know about these and other really cool “retro” stuff!
