How do I hook my record player up to my computer?
October 27th, 2009 by adminI want to record my vinyl records to my computer. I have a program that can do this, but I don’t know how to hook the turntable to the laptop! The red & white plugs coming from the record player don’t fit anywhere on the laptop! There are no red & white jacks!
How do I hook my turntable to my computer?
Get an adapter to plug the RCA (red and white holes) to a 3.5 mini jack (the kind thats on an ipod and most computers. If you have a mac, final vinyl is great vinyl recording software.
Final Vinyl: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/finalvinyl.html
Adapter I was talking about:
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Audio-Cable-Splitter-1-Mini/dp/B00004Z5CP/ref=pd_cp_e_2?pf_rd_p=413863501&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000I23TTE&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0EVYVTZ5Y6ATPRE9AHV8
You can find that adapter at walmart, target, etc…just ask for Male RCA to Male 3.5 Mini Jack, they’ll know what you are talking about.

You need a cable that has a 3.5mm Stereo adapter on one end and the red and while on the other end! you can find it at radio shack, Wal Mart, Frys, Best Buy etc. Plug the 3.5mm jack into the blue input on the back of your sound card!
