How do I go about purchasing a record player?
November 3rd, 2009 by adminI’m looking to purchase a record player and I’m not sure as to what I should be looking for exactly.
For instance, I would like an older one, but will any type of speakers work with an older one? If not, where can I acquire speakers for it?
Also, are there any brands that would be recommended? And, where should I look for one? Ebay? Thrift stores?
And would you recommend getting a newer one as opposed to a vintage one?
Thank you!
try the Salvation Army stores if you have them, then try Craigslist. If you want a newer one, go on Amazon. I think I actually saw one at Costco or Sam’s. or maybe it was Best Buy.

I would definitely advise buying a new one.
Just like anything else, they age. If you find a vintage-styled one at a thrift store type place, it’s very likely you’ll end up having to replace a belt or catridge – and these parts get very expensive to replace.
I would advise buying a new USB turntable, so when spinning your vinyl, you can also translate them to an mp3. You can probably get one at your local record store or even a Radioshack or music store such as a Sam Ash.
