January 1st, 2010 by admin

i just got it today and i have no idea on which kinds of records i should buy. theres more than one type right?

33s….albums … 12 inch

45s … singles … 7 inch

78s… ancient … 10 inch

with the exception of 12 inch 45s which were usually a long version of a disco song.

There were also 16 prm records but they are almost impossible to find.

There are large records with a small hole called long-playing or 33 and a thirds. There are small records with a large hole called 45s. To play these records will require a disc that goes over the spindle to accommodate the large hole.

There are three types you can play. They are
33 1/3 RPM also known as LP’s. They have a number of cuts( songs) per side.
45RPM. these are somewhat smaller, and have one cut (song) per side.
The third is the older 78 RPM. These are about the size of LP records, but have one song per side. You will not see them much as they are much older.
