IronMan via Homemade Lego Record Player
November 2nd, 2009 by admin
Yep, you read it right! Everything is on this is made of legos, even the small motor is from a robotics invertion system. The only things that aren’t lego is the paper cone, the tin foil in the cone, and the straight pin that rides the record.
IronMan (c) Black Sabbath.

Oh God! How could …
Oh God! How could you do that to an original “Paranoid” LP pressing? I bet it sounds A LOT better on an old Dual or Thorens from ‘71. You probably should have put the microphone right above the horn. That little motor’s not holding the speed so well, but it’s pretty close to the 33rpm range. At least it doesn’t sound like it’s on 45 speed. Nice build, you guys. Next time, use a crappy Warrant LP, or maybe something by Poison – something you don’t mind damaging.

You cannot play a …
You cannot play a record with paper, you need something hard and pointy that acts as a needle. You can actually read it in the info “… in the cone, and the straight pin that rides the record.”
Very impressive that they got the tempo right, but I would have taken a less significant record too for this kind of experiment, because it will ruin the record after a short while.
When can we expect a tapedeck guys?
