How do I amplify the sound of my old record player?

Just got a record player. The arm will not move when I turn it on. What am I doing wrong?
I got a sansui PL41 automatic record player. However, when I turn it on, the record will spin but the arm won’t move. It’s automatic/computerized and you can hear it doing something but the arm remains in its original position. Do I need to do something differently? Or do I need a new part? Thanks
