Anybody know impedance of speakers in RCA New Orthophonic 7-HF-5 record player?
My wife recently brought home a mid-1950s RCA "New Orthophonic" record player, model 7-HF-5.
The player has three speakers– a centrally mounted 6.5-inch main speaker, and two auxiliary 3.5-inch speakers pointed away from the main speaker’s projection at 45-degree angles.
I am attempting to restore this record player to good working condition. I have replaced the tubes [...]

1950 GE Play-Talk Turntable Tape Recorder
Here’s a demo of an odd bit of transistional tech. This is a GE Play-Talk from 1950. It’s a kid’s toy, but it’s actually pretty advanced for the time, since tape recorders were just start to become available. This is a tape recorder / record player hybrid. The paper disc is coated with magnetic tape, [...]

1955 RCA Slide-O-Matic Record Player Attachment Part 2
Here is an update video to the first post of my 1955 RCA record player attachment, model 6-JM-1. Here you see the player mechanism, and the new retrofitted stereo cartridge that I have crudely installed on the tone arm. It originally came with a ‘crystal’ type cartridge, which was long dead. I [...]

The needle broke on my turntable. What do I do now?
I know nothing about this. It is a Pioneer PLS50 fully automatic turntable. The needle says Audio-Technica LS300. Do I need to replace the cartridge, or the stylus? I don’t know how any of this works.
