Help with a christmas present Turntable and speakers….?

Hey.
I am hoping to buy my girlfriend a turntable, speakers etc for playing her vinyls on. Literally just for her to listen to her music on, i was going to get her one of them ones with built in speakers but they just don’t look as good (or probably don’t sound as good as well)…
So [...]

Does the "TECHNICS SL1210 MK5 TURNTABLE" come with phono leads?

Well any leads for that matter. I assume it comes with a power lead but what about linking it to my amp? (PIONEER A307R AMPLIFIER). I am asking this as I have just ordered it but want to know if i should buy some leads.
Daniel K is wrong. The phono cables and ground wire on [...]

Marantz CDR310 CD Recorder – How do you record in stereo?

I just got a Marantz CDR310 CD Recorder today. I followed the instruction for pre-setting the record function to stereo – and the display says "stereo" – but when I burn my CD and play it back on my stereo CD player – it only comes out of one speaker. Any thoughts on [...]

When I try play a record, my turntable lifts the playing arm and puts it back in the cradle?

IT IS A PRETTY NEW record player, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE I HAVE TO PRESS THE PLAY BUTTON A THOUSAND TIMES BEFORE THE ARM STAYS DOWN AND PLAYS THE RECORD.
Try looking at the back of the arm, near the pivot point. In some of the older turntables there was a tracking adjuster knob or [...]

my turntable/record player goes too fast on the slowest setting. is there a way to slow it down?

I don’t know what brand/model turntable you have but my Technics SL-1700(direct drive) has two seperate speed calibration screws underneath the platter(33&45 r.p.m.). Yours may be similiar or it may have to be opened to adjust platter speed. Calibrating should best be left to a professional. Keep in mind that a turntable requires proper lubrication [...]

Record player needle?

Would it scratch or damage a record if i use a regular needle or pin for my record player?
YES! The needle on a record player is a very special one and not like a sewing needle. Those record players need to be fitted for the correct needle. Check the Mfgr. name [...]

What kind of record player should I buy?

I bought some records recently and I have been looking for a record player, but I am not really sure what kind to get. I know that I want one that has the older style amp so that it sounds better. I am wondering if there are new record players out now that [...]

How old is the oldest phonograph record that you have and what is the song & who is the artist?

Any Edison records out there?
Yes I have a bunch of old 78s that belong to my Mom.
They aren’t worth much I will most likely sell them to a collector.
I have RCA Victor, Edison, Varsity along with MGM, Columbia
I have one of John Phllip Sousa too
You can buy turntables again I bought a new one a [...]

I want to buy a record player. What should I know before I buy one?

I’ve never bought one before and I don’t know anything about them. I found one on ebay. Here’s the link:

Is it worth buying?
I just bought a really cool one at the fleamarket, got it home, found out something was wrong with the speaker. You can know everything about record players and still get jipped. Though [...]
