i want to get a new cartridge for my turntable, an old technics p-520 whats a good one to get? is it worth it?

February 5th, 2010

Never heard of a Technics P-520… It’s probably worth putting a cartridge on if it’s a Technics and it works though.
If the cartridge pins plug straight into the tonearm and there’s a set screw on the side, you need a P-mount cartridge.
If wires and connectors are connected to the cartridge pins and the cartridge is [...]

I have a friend that I want to help out but I don’t know anything about it!
Do you mean what songs should he/she start out with?
It depends what kind of music they want to deejay. The easiest music to learn beat-matching on is minimal house. Really, any house. It’s much easier to line up the [...]

what is the best turntable/record player i can buy for under 75 dollars?

February 5th, 2010

Here are a few ideas…
If you want a new one, try Circuit City or Radio Shack. You may have to have them order one. It will be far from top of the line.
For a good used one, try calling around to family owned electronics stores in your area. They sometimes have used [...]

A record player’s needle is 6.5cm from the center of a 45-rpm record. What is the velocity of the needle?

February 5th, 2010

ignore them … you meant relative velocity
why do you find this hard?
the radius is 6.5
so the perimeter of that circle is 2 Pi R
and it covers that distance 45 times in a minute
Dist=2×3.142×6.5
Time = 60/45
Velocity = D/T
so we have 13 x Pi x 45 / 60 = 30.63 cm/second
(or 18.378 m/min [...]
